For Your Eyes Only (1981) DVD Review | James Bond | 007

The Story
A British spy ship masquerading as a fishing boat sinks near the Greek coast after accidently fishing up a sea mine. A race after its secret cargo - a nuclear control system - starts by the world's super powers. James Bond is the only agent who can stop the baddies selling it to the Russians.

The Review
Being filmed in 1981 the movie has a very 80's feel to it. It reminded me a lot of 80s and early 90s Jacky Chan movies, with motorcross chases, car chases down windy mountain roads and little funny sound effects when cables snap, or a bady skis into a pole. There seem to be a lot more jokes in this James Bond compared to previous ones. Not all of the jokes may have been intentionally at the time. Some may have been helped a bit by the 80s setting. The movie is packed with action, starting with James Bond needing to escape a helicopter in flight while it's controled by Blowfelt remotely. In addition there are chases on skis, motorcycle, cars and a couple more.

It's been a while since I've watched a James Bond and this one certainly makes me wants to continue watching a couple more.
